One of the most important aspects when it comes to moving is preparation. Everything is simply much more efficient if everything is ready on moving day. Of course, we offer packing and preparation services in addition to the normal moving rates. However, if you intend on packing yourself, and preparing before we arrive, there are several important tips for a successful moving day.
FIrst, be sure to have 95% of your boxes packed and taped when our crew arrives. While we are happy to help tape boxes, you can save time (and therefore money) by doing this before we arrive. If our crews have to stop moving furniture to tape boxes, it simply adds to the duration of the job – most of which are priced on an hourly basis. Of course, it is okay to leave three or four boxes untaped for last-minute packing, but the majority should be ready to go when we arrive.
Secondly, any disassembly you can do before we arrive will make the move go that much faster. Of course, let us handle anything difficult. But if you or spouse are the handy-type, feel free to do any minor or miscellaneous unhooking of table tops or beds. Again, we are happy to handle the job full-service for you, but we have learned over the years that many of our clients like to have everything ready when we arrive.
Also, feel free to remove pictures and mirrors from the walls. Our crews will blanket-wrap them for protection, but having them off of the wall, in one, organized area, makes the job more efficient.
The key to every move is efficiency. Whether large or small, any help you offer the crews is greatly appreciated and accepted. ALl of these tasks will help drive down the time your job takes, thereby saving you money. We encourage all of our customers to prepare as much as possible, which also means getting a good night’s sleep. Rather than staying up into the wee hours of the morning packing boxes, plan ahead and try to get this work done before the last minute. If you do, your move will go off without a hitch,, and you’ll have saved both time and money.
As always, thank you for reading,
Mr. Move
P.S. Even though your preparation will lead to less revenue for us, we know the value of a happy client. Referrals are welcomed, rewarded, and greatly appreciated!
