Moving FAQ
- Q: How much notice should I give of my moving date?
- A: At Mr Move, we tailor a moving experience to your specific needs. Therefore, we prefer a week’s notice if possible. However, there are no additional charges for last minute moves. We are happy to accommodate you in your time of need.
- Q: What is the best time of month to move?
- A: At Mr Move, we have a flexible schedule to accommodate your needs. However, we suggest setting your move during the middle of the month if possible, as the beginning and end of the month are very busy times in the industry.
- Q: How should I pack my fragile dishes?
- A: You should wrap your dishes in moving paper or newspaper and place them in the box vertically. You should place peanuts at the bottom of the box, under the plates, and in between the plates and the sides of the boxes. Be sure to wrap the dishes several times to ensure safe transport. Bubble wrap is also a good idea. At Mr Move, we are always happy to give you advice over the phone if you have a tricky question. Please call us at 504-891-Move or visit our Contacts Page for other ways to reach us.
- Q: What is the proper method of preparing my mattresses for moving?
- A: The best bet for moving a mattress is purchasing mattress bags or allowing our professional movers to wrap them in shrink wrap.
- Q: How should I prepare my plasma or flat screen TV for moving day?
- A: Without a doubt, the best way to prepare a TV is to pack it in its original carton. If the carton is not available, wrapping the TV in bubble wrap is a good start. The movers will also wrap the TV in moving blankets for safe hauling. At Mr Move, we sell all of the supplies you need, here.
- Q: What should I do with my pet on moving day?
- A: Check out our Moving Tips page for a list of tips to Moving with Pets.
- Q: How much should I tip the crew?
- A: Tipping is completely optional. Typically tips between 10-15% of the price of the move are fair.
- Q: What are some good supplies to have ready on moving day for the crew?
- A: While not required, it is good to have bottles water or Gatorade available for the crew. As we all know, South Louisiana is very hot during the summer, and the men really appreciate any drinks you can have on hand to help hydrate them.
- Q: Do I need to take my beds apart?
- A: At Mr Move, our professional moving crews will disassemble and reassemble your beds, included in the price of the job.
- Q: Should I disconnect my washer and dryer before the movers arrive?

- Q: Do you provide in-home estimates?
- A: We provide in-home estimates to customers upon request.
- Q: How should I handle my fine jewelry?
